Made in America

Here is my Grid Art project. The hardest part of this project for me was coming up with an idea. I really wanted to stay with the technique of finding a natural grid then transforming it rather than making a grid. In the end, I made an American flag out of a grid used to ship water bottles.  It was supposed to wave, but the filler paper and a glue stopped all of the motion. So here it is, "Made in America".

  1. Your idea was very simple, but really good. It's such a simple pattern that's not associated with any grid work, but you made something that was more horizontally shaped and made it into physical grid. It reminds me a lot of Jasper John's work who did the american flag for political statement's but still what you did has a lot of power on it's own, great work.

  2. I liked the fact that you manipulated a grid to make it into something you wanted it to be... kinda like the urinal we saw in class. Good job!

  4. I really wish you got it to wave around! LOL. I liked yours a lot. I like the size of it, it extends the image of the grid and I also like that you took a common object and made it into a important symbol that we all appreciate.

  6. Brilliant idea to use the water holder as your grid. I would have never looked at something like that and seen what you saw. I also like the filler paper a lot. It's huge! Love it!

  9. i liked how you did the american flag, and how your project is larger than smaller. and i liked the idea about it swaying, too bad it didn't work out. i know its hard to find a natural grid to work with on this proj.
